Winter is still months away but the time to apply preemergence herbicides to control fall-germinating weeds is upon us. Winter annual weeds such as henbit, chickweed, annual bluegrass, and vetch will germinate as soon as the soil begins to cool. Preemergence herbicides need to be applied soon to prevent their establishment. Information to help select the most effective preemergence herbicide options for landscapes and nurseries can be found at the Weed Management in Nurseries, Landscapes & Christmas Trees portal.
